Get the XL version if you can...

If you're printing only once in a while, these cartridges will last a while, but if you're going to be printing big jobs (100+ pages at a time), you'd do better to get the 61XL. Sadly, that type is not available at my local store.

ink usage

I have been using HP ink since I got my computer. It is what I must use. That is not the problem. The problem is that when you insert the new cartridge it prints out an abundance of ink. This goes on for the first let me say ten copies. Do you have any idea how much wasted ink is coming out as a result of this? Well HP should develop a more economic way of dispensing the ink for the consumers usage. My thoughts have been maybe they want it this way so you have to buy ink more often. If that be the case this might change on my side in the future. I don't mean to be negative but someone must let them know that I am not pleased.

Sickeningly overpriced, as all HP ink is...

HP sells inexpensive printers and then has outrageously expensive ink. I hate this company. I don't know that any others are any different, but it is maddening to have to spend 15.00 or 30.00 on varying sizes of powdered ink that probably costs the company next to nothing. The whole thing is a scam. Does the ink work? Yes.

Description says it yields up to 190 pages. I bought a cartridge and it printed ONLY 54 then I bought another cartridge to replace it....Guess what?? It ONLY printed 55!! The pages I printed out did not require a lot of ink, they were standard letters. I am switching to laser and most definitely will NOT be HP brand.

It works fine. Price is right. You need to have a printer that requires this specific cartridge. Shipping is less that what it costs me to start my car and drive to the Wal-Mart store. Plus the time saved is priceless. I had it in just a few days after placing my order. No fuss, no muss!
