Affordable Mobility Carrier

I had been needing a mobility carrier for a long time but had not been able to afford one. Recently my husband's condition had made it necessary to take his wheelchair whenever we went to doctors. I had to switch from a transport chair to a wide chair for him which is much heavier. I have a serious back problem and cannot lift the wheelchair into the back of my car any longer. I also have a scooter for myself that I have not been able to take with me. At the urging of home health care to get a mobility carrier I again Googled mobility carriers and was pleasantly surprised when this carrier showed up in the results! The price of $139 discounted was within my budget. I ordered it and it arrived very quickly. There is assembly required and it takes two people to put it on the vehicle. This is a very sturdy metal carrier. It has been checked by home health and they are now recommending it to their patients. It easily carries both the scooter and wheelchair. You will need straps or bungees to secure it to the carrier (which can be purchased from Wal-Mart). I highly recommend this carrier to anyone!!!!!

Life Savor

My grandfather has issues with walking but his wheelchair couldn't fit in the back. Now we can take it with us easily!

Good Value

The product itself is well made. It arrives in a large shipper un-assembled. You will need a set of box wrenches and a socket set to assemble. Directions for assembly are not great. It is a diagram of the carrier exploded apart showing where pieces should go. (NOTE: If possible have a second person handy to help with assembly) I am somewhat handy figuring things out and decided to assemble carrier by myself. Took me about 2 hours due to needing to take frequent breaks. Healthy person should be able to assemble in half that time. To assemble, I placed the receiver bar into the hitch and fastened. I then balanced the base (part that the scooter will set on) across the bar. Once I got the 1st nut and bolt in place it was just a matter lining up all the holes to the braces and fastening them down. (I placed all the center bolts 1st) I did a loose fit first to make it easier in case I had to jiggle any part to get the holes lined up. Once all bolts are in place I went about fastening them in a crisscross pattern to assure I did not bind any cross supports. After all the bolts tightened all that is left is attaching the ramp. Again a second set of hands would have made this task easier but it is doable by yourself. Once you have the ramp placed into the hinges, insert the cotter pins and you are done! Note: I am using this on a Ford Expedition. Height of the vehicle makes it quite steep running my scooter onto the carrier. The balance wheels end up lifting the rear drive wheels from contacting the ramp so I need to give a little nudge to keep it moving. A lower vehicle should not run into this issue. Hope I have answered questions a prospective buyer may have about this item.

A Breeze

We looked at some that were over $100.00 more and were not as well constructed. It was a breeze to put together. Fits perfectly in the receiver. It will handle a pretty big electric wheel chair.
