Perfect House for the Pup!

I spent a lot of time looking through dog houses, trying to find the perfect one. We got it in case it starts raining while we are out, and the pup is still outside. I am very pleased with the choice I made. The house seems to be made very well. Real wood and shingles, and very pretty. It is very easy to put together, but it does require a drill. All together, it probably took 20 minutes to get it ready. I love that it sits up off the ground a few inches, to keep the water out of it did rain, and to keep it cooler when it is warm out. My pup is currently 40 lbs, Goldendoodle- and she has a lot of room to grow. Very nice little house!

Great materials but it came defective

We got this doghouse and it looked like it was going to be great. It had a nice, sturdy roof and it looked like it would be a quality product. When we tried to assemble it the sides were damaged. The boxes looked like it had been opened before we got it so I have to wonder if it had been returned before. I can't say for sure but it makes me wonder. I called the company and told them I didn't care if I got a new dog house, a replacement on the damaged parts or a refund. I could send them pictures of the damage. They said I'd have to piece together the box and ship it back. They would email me a prepaid slip via email that I never got. I will call again and I assume I will get the slip to return it. I'm guessing it's an oversight I didn't get an email about it. The box is large and very heavy. It took two of use to lift it. I had to use the better part of a roll of packaging tape to put it back together. It's turned into a big nuisance. My money is tied up and this is the last thing I want to spend more time and energy on. I would have given it one star but it really did look like it could have been a good house if not for the poor quality and damage to the sides.

Just as expected

Looks just like the photo. Quality is decent, especially for the price. It's not very thick, but will do great for our weather that ranges from 32*winter to 100*summer. We had it put together quickly and it's much roomier than expected. Our Golden Retriever fits wonderfully, there's plenty of room for her to turn around and lay comfortably without it being to big making it cold or too small to not allowing her to turn around. Great buy and would recommend it and buy it again.

Just as expected

I did quite a bit of research on dog houses before finally choosing this one. For this particular house, Walmart had the lowest price by far, and the shipping fee ($8 for Priority Shipping) was so low I thought it was a mistake at first. I did have the option of getting "free shipping" to a Walmart Store, but I figured the $8 was well worth not having to load/unload it myself. I bought this for my newly adopted 60-lb. pit bull mix, and it fits her very well; she has room to lie down, turn around, and stand up (if she keeps her head low). However, my 100-lb. dog is way too big for it. I don't recommend this one for larger breeds! Minor Complaints: some of the moulding in the front was cracked and a little dented upon arrival; the roof was missing a hole in which to insert a screw; and the "floor boards" tend to shift around on the ground. Overall, I don't think any of these are a big deal. The house does its job—that is, provide shelter from the elements—and it was such a good deal that I don't really care. It still looks nice, and everyone comments on how "cute" it is. Once I bought a soft crate bed/bumper, the floor boards stayed put and my dog climbed right in. It was also very easy to assemble, and it stays nice and dry in the rain.

I have this dog house - 6 yrs later

I bought this dog house about 6 yrs ago. It was from an online retailer - priced similar to the Walgreen price. I think Walgreen has it for about 20-30 dollars less than my purchase price. After 6 years the dog house has held up great. We have left it outside all year (including Michigan winters) There is some very very minor surface cracking in the white trim near the roof - but nothing that will cause water leakage. The shingles are in great shape. The interior of the dog house looks brand new still. We give it a good cleaning once a year. We don't plan on replacing it anytime soon. It still has many years of use to come.
