Save here, buy a better filter

I have used this synthetic oil in my 90's corolla for as long as Walmart has been selling it. The truth is, most oil is capable of going much farther than you would think. The trouble is, the filter can only hold so much dirt. I began using the super tech synthetic (same price as other brands conventional oils and meets all the SAE standards) with the highest quality Bosche, Fram, Pure One, or Mobile filter I can find. I change the oil every 6-7k miles and this Toyota will probably outlive me (still doesn't consume oil as a 20 year old car). In effect, this oil and a nice filter saves me the time, and the partial cost, of a conventional oil change while doing nice things to my engine. I would highly recommend it; that is, unless you're rich and want to spend more. In that case, AutoZone will sell you the same oil for 40% more if you've got cash to waste.

Great Synthetic Oil

On my last Oil Change I was in Wal-Mart and just about to pick up my 5 quart bottle of Mobil 1 as I have since 1979. On and off I tried Castrol Syntech and Amzoil. With the same result, I keep adding to top off. With in 5,000 miles I would have to add a quart regardless of brands. Any how I was having a rough day and I did not feel like spending $28.00 for Mobile 1. So I started to look around and I found Super Tech Full Synthetic Oil for $17.47 and thought why not. I read the bottle and the same for Mobil 1. Say's the same thing and is of equal quality. I have also been using Lucas Synthetic Oil Stabilizer with my Mobile 1 for the last 25,000 miles, yet still needing to top off. But this time it was different my 2003 Buick Regal with 230,000 got a new Bosch Distance Plus Oil Filter as with every oil change, 1/2 quart of Lucas Synthetic Oil Stabilizer, and 4 quarts of 10 W 30 Super Tech Synthetic Oil. For the fist time in my life using Synthetic Oil, regardless of what vehicle I was driving at the time, I have gone 5,000 miles and have not added 1 single a drop of oil. My mechanic can not believe how smooth and quite my 3800 Buick Engine runs now with 235,000 miles on it. I know the Lucas has quieted my engine prior to using Super Tech, But I have a marked immediate improvement since using Super Tech. Plus I Saved 10 Buck's, and I am not adding. I just hate to think how much money I have wasted in the past adding oil and paying more than I needed to in purchasing the big named oil brands. I will start paying me instead of pay for Professional Race Car Drivers to endorse the big named oil brands.

Great oil backed up by quality assurance

I am getting ready to use this synthetic oil on my 2013 Hyundai Sonata and I want to thank all of you for posting your reviews! You convinced me that this is a great bargain! I would like to contribute to the discussion with some additional information. First of all, I found out that SuperTech is a licensed dexos 1 brand, so if your car is still under warranty it will not void it. Here is the Center for Quality Assurance link: http://www.centerforqa.com/dexos-brand1/ I also found a detailed description of the SuperTech components on the Petroleum Quality Institute of America website: http://www.pqiamerica.com/March2013PCMO/supertech.htm If it's true that Mobil 1 is considered one of the best synthetic oils, here is the detailed description of Mobil . It doesn't seem to me that there is a substantial difference between the two. http://www.pqiamerica.com/March2013PCMO/mobil1.htm

Comparison to Other Name Brands

This oil is as good as other top of the line name brands. Just check out the comparisons made by the Engineers at the Petroleum Quality Institute here: http://pqiamerica.com/March2013PCMO/Marchsyntheticsallfinal.html As you can see by comparing viscosity and additives it ranks up there with the best and is probably made by them anyway.

meets name brand specs for less money

is a good value for full synthetic oil and meets name brand specs for way less money. If you can't find a promotion deal on name brand supertech is great deal. Many times I've change oil at the same price for non-synthetic oil deals from auto parts stores. Have used this in my subaru and volvo without sludge or foaming problems and has increased mpg by about 2-5% depending on speed. If you never have used synthetic its time to switch, will increase life of engine, and as oil becomes more expensive/ scarce synthetics become cheaper to fill the decline.
