this does have a drain hole--some reviews said it didn't but it does. fits my boat just right and i get 20 lb bag of ice on the way after sitting all day in the hot sun on the gulf, i fill with fish and the next day there is still plenty of ice on them so i don't have to clean the fish at night when i get home.
Dry Ice test.
I have a Coleman extreme cooler also. 48 quarts. I place a identical block of dry ice in each. 24 hours later, the ice in this cooler was gone, yet the extreme cooler was cold and has dry ice remaining.
Spend the few extra bucks
The cooler carried in my local store looks similar and is about $8 cheaper. The difference is no drain and no insulation. Total ice meltdown on the cheap one is part of one day. This cooler will keep ice for two days and stay cold for three. Spend the extra money and wait a few days for store delivery. It’s well worth it!
Probably not worth it
I bought this cooler due to very specific size constraints. It is advertised as a three day cooler- not even close! Temps are currently in the 60s overnight and this cooler can't hold ice one night. I also don't care for the hinges. I spotted the hinge issue before purchase but gave it a try due to size. The hinge is just a plastic flap. Seems like it will eventually break. Also, it means the lid always wants to close so you only get one hand to work in the cooler. We have the cheap $15 Igloo and I would say in general it is better. I wanted the drain plug that the Coleman includes, that's why I gave it a try. Also, not happy with the Walmart pricing. Bought it on "sale." Next day I got an ad where it was $10 less at Dick's (and Dick's everyday price is apparently better). Walmart online couldn't help but said customer service in store would price match. Going to Walmart is such a pain that it will cost me more than $10 in my time and sanity, so Walmart wins 'cause I won't bother. Bottom line: this cooler is for very temporary transport, not going to keep anything in it for any length of time. In that case, don;t need the drain plug and the similar Igloo is a better buy.
Good Cooler, Good Price
Closes/seals very well. When filled with beverages and ice it maintains temperature and ice in cube form up to 48 hours. Last but not least it is very reasonably priced.
