I'm a retired RN, know how inaccurate the little BP machines can be, but since my sphygmomanometer is long broken, I decided to try one. I went with Omron knowing it was a good brand. I've been getting very accurate readings with this little machine for 2 weeks now. I'm thrilled about that since I almost bought a more expensive model thinking "you get what you pay for". I've compared readings on both my arms with other large machines & am satisfied that I made a good choice. My new Omron BP was 114/64 on the left arm, and 115/65 on the right arm. There is normally a difference between arms - mine is very slight...but it is accurate. You can click on a button to see recent BPs - each click gives you a different past reading - it would be nice if the dates were with the readings....maybe you get that with a more expensive model, but I'm satisfied with what I have and recommend it. The cuff is pretty easy to secure on your arm, but I can see some very elderly people having trouble doing it themselves.
I got this for my fiance and he became so concerned about his blood pressure that he went to the doctor. They took his blood pressure 6 times and he brought this Omron with him and took readings from it at the same time. It was consistently 20 points HIGHER in systolic and diastolic every time. This faulty machine caused him great worry all for nothing!!
Health Studies for My Care Team
I purchased this device for a number of reasons: 1. It was a arm cuff not a wrist cuff. 2. It tracked BP by date and time for two users. 3. It interfaces to my smart phone and allowed me to review the history with my doctors. Things that I found out are that the unit record irregular heart beat with can be reviewed with my doctor. Things that I find totally useless is consolidated graft report for the doctor. Not one of my doctors will look at this report because it is so busy. It needs to be modified so that the charts are not stacked.
Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor
This is my second device I bought. Because I keep one device with me at home & I take the second one with me when I travel out of the State. It is reliable & easy to use.
Actually cost us $330!
Cost us hundreds for doc appt! Hubby has high blood pressure and doctor recommended daily checks. After starting high bp meds, showed he still had high bp. Made appt. to see doc...bp was just fine. They checked out the monitor and they said it registered too high and was not reliable. With high deductible insurance this monitor cost us $300 plus the $30!
