Useless USB, Good images, decent sound
The package arrived on the date mentioned. I was shocked to see that there was no real packaging on the TV. It just came in the manufacturer box, which just had a couple of thermocol inside. The box was torn at many places. I was worried the TV might have some transportation defects, but luckily, the TV had no scratches or cracks. On installation, I found that they didnt pack the screws for the TV stand in the box. I have to now use TV without the stand until I got the screws. By now, I had half the mind to return the TV, but somehow I went through to check the TV quality. The TV images were really good when you use HD. It was clear and crisp. The sound was decent too. It lacked clarity but was loud enough and not shaky. It has all the ports promised online, but I found the USB did not really work like a USB. It is just some service port, and we cannot use our USB devices on the TV. Now, I have to get something to cast my images or videos to the TV. The TV is satisfactory in the case of image and sound but is left wanting in care and promises made online.
Good Picture Quality But Sound is Lacking
First let me say the picture on walmart.com is inaccurate compared with the TV I received. The model numbers match but the feet on the TV are different. Funny thing is, the feet I wanted are the ones I received. The TV came with a center pedestal, that allows the TV to sit on a narrow TV stand., not the feet that are more towards the corner of TV. Other than that this TV is well worth the price and is really a steal for the size to dollar ratio. The coaxial cable is also a little hard to screw on because it's so close to the back panel. I'm also not a fan of the inputs being located on the side and the bottom of the back panel. They should all be on the bottom. But you really only deal with plugging in cables once.
Arrived broke! Picture quality was awesome though!
I ordered my Proscan 50" tv and received it within 3 days, great! Picked it up from the Walmart near me, easy! Got it home and after taking it out of the box noticed that at the top of the screen the border to the tv and the screen were not fitted together and the screen was sticking out, BADDD! Turned the tv on, noticed a crack in the tv all the way down but the picture quality on the tv was still almost perfect! Returned the tv last night and reordered a new one, hopefully made with more love and care! I loved the picture quality and the size was amazing! Would recommend a sound bar, the sound is a bit hollow when compared to my 32" Samsung.
Proscan aces it again.
I purchased this TV based on my very positive experience with a smaller 40" Proscan TV I bought 4 years ago at the then unheard of price of $199. I'm happy to say that my new Proscan shares all of the attributes of my still working and much loved older Proscan. The PLDED5069 is a no nonsense, basic TV housed in a surprisingly nice looking, slim & well designed package. It has ample inputs for most people's needs and a reasonably sensitive tuner for those who use over the air network TV. What really sets this TV apart from the rest of the pack (besides it's very low price) is the extraordinary quality of it's display panel. The picture on this TV, like it's older sibling has a picture that easily competes with TV's costing 3 to 4 times as much. You have to see it to believe it. The only major weakness this TV has is something many other reviewers have already mentioned, the sound. The speakers are terrible. This is not uncommon with many newer TV's with designs trending towards thinner and lighter housings. The sub par speakers are not an issue for me because I run all of my TV's through home audio systems which results in a sound far superior to the internal speakers in any TV at any price. The bottom line is this. If you're looking for a very high quality picture and plan on integrating your TV into a home entertainment system, nothing I've seen out there comes even close to touching this TV. It is simply an amazing value. If you plan on using the TV as a stand alone unit, consider adding a sound bar or better still, run it through an amp or home entertainment system. The price of the TV is so low, and the picture quality is so good that even the added cost of a sound bar will still yield you an amazing bang for your buck. Well done Proscan.
I LOVEE IT SO MUCH IT DOESNT LOOK LIKE A CHEAP TV THE SCREEN QUALITY WHEN YOU WATCH TV IS AMAZING. THE SOUND IS FENOMENAL. I LOVEEE IT.
