Broken in 2.5 years and terrible customer service
It looked good upon arrival. However, after using it for 2.5 years, I noticed slits showing up. Right now there are more than 8 slits on my daughter's mattress (as shown in the attached images. I have to put on tapes to seal it). The more terrible thing is the response I got from the customer's service. What I wanted is just a replacement of waterproof mattress cover which is cheaper than a whole new mattress. However, this is what happened to me. Firstly, I was transferred from Safety 1st to a company called DHP furniture. Then, I was required to submit a long list of information, including Proof of purchase, Picture of the law label, Pictures of the defects，Pictures of the mattress itself, Full name, Full mailing address, Phone number. After that, I got a reply email, offering a refund, but requiring me another long list of information, including full name again, mailing address again, phone number again, a picture of a 20"”x 20"” cut out from the damaged mattress, review, sign and return the product release form. In short, to fix their products' quality problem, they ask the buy completely destroy the problem mattress by cutting a cube in size 20"”x 20" from the mattress and refund the original buying price which is lower than current price. That means to get a refund, I have to pay more for the same mattress and spend more time cutting the mattress as well as sending the signed product release form. That's the most unreasonable refund policy that I've ever known. I contacted them again to express my dissatisfaction. What I got is "No". This is what you will experience when your mattress get quality issue.
great quality and comfort.
Our Dog Loves It
We ordered the crib mattress for our dog so that's how we'll write the review -- based on the fact that she uses it all the time. Actually it's probably a more accurate review than others since a baby wouldn't have a choice but to sleep on it, while our dog has the opportunity to sleep on the mattress, or the floor, or even the couch, and she chooses the mattress most of the time. She does have a slight case of arthritis so it's easier for her to use the mattress instead of jumping up on the couch, but she has many places to choose to sleep yet she seems to enjoy the mattress the most. We thought a crib mattress would actually help her be more comfortable with her arthritis and it seems to be working. She loves it. BTW, she also weighs 60 pounds, so that's a lot more than a baby weighs and that may be a factor. The mattress may be too firm for a baby -- don't know.
Compromised quality for cheap price
The mattress doesn’t look bad, fits well in a crib and has waterproof cover but mine arrived with two cracks which I, unfortunately, noticed after removing and disposing all tags. The mattress didn’t have a box and was only covered by plastic wrap which was dirty but intact with few stretches on plastic so I can’t tell if the damage was done during shipping or it was a manufacture defect. I decided to contact its manufacturer especially that the mattress has 5 year warranty. It has been endless exchange of emails with requests of different information, pictures etc. Time and efforts spent on it is not worth the price of this mattress. I guess I’ll use it as it is but definitely won’t buy it again. I would not recommend buying this mattress. Rather invest money in more expensive one with better quality.
Hard-as-a-Rock & NOISY & almost too Big for Crib
I'm confused why a lot of people rated this mattress so highly. To start----The first night our Toddler slept on this mattress, he woke up 3 different times whining. Compared to our $40 KOLCRAFT 80-Springs Mattress that our Toddler used to sleep on---it feels so HARD & the covering crinkles LOUDLY & NOISY when she moves around on it. I'm just glad our Baby is the one sleeping on our Toddlers old KOLCRAFT Mattress...much softer. Oh & the dimensions say they're about the same as the KOLCRAFT Mattress, but there is about a 1 1/2 INCH difference. The Kolcraft Mattress gives room for a bumper to fit and this Safety 1st Mattress doesn't even give 1/2 INCH of space for a bumper. Thank goodness our Toddler doesn't need a bumper. All-in-all IF the Mattress cover wasn't SO loud & Hard, I wouldn't mind that it is almost too big to fit in our Toddler's Crib. I could unzip the cover & take it off, but I don't want to have to go buy a softer cover & pay more money.
